How Does it Feel to Be On OxyContin

    By | OxyContin | Comments are Closed | | 0

How does it feel to be on OxyContin? This is a common question asked by those with friends or family members who are addicted to the substance, as well as by those who have been prescribed it by their doctor.

Before diving into more about the question, “How does it feel to be on OxyContin,” it is best to learn a bit more about the substance itself.

    About OxyContin

In Canada, OxyContin is one of the most commonly prescribed and abused drugs. With that comes quite a few questions, including does it make you feel high, and “How does it feel to be on OxyContin?” These are good questions and ones that many people are curious about.

    What is OxyContin?

This drug is a type of opioid painkiller, which is only available by getting a prescription from your doctor. OxyContin is actually the brand name of oxycodone, and it is considered to be an extended release version of this drug. Just like with other types of prescription opioids, OxyContin actually works by binding to the opioid receptors that are located in your nervous system.

If you are wondering, how does it feel to be on OxyContin, then you have likely heard of it, how it is used and how it is often abused. The act is, this drug is part of the opioid epidemic that has struck the U.S. and Canada. It is considered to be a Schedule II controlled substance, because of the high likelihood of abuse and addiction it poses. However, there are also therapeutic uses of this drug because it offers those who take it 24/7 pain relief. This drug is very different than other opioids, due to the controlled release element it offers.

    What Does Controlled Release Mean?

One of the main reasons that OxyContin is considered so addictive is because of the long-term effects it offers. The question of how does it feel to be on OxyContin, is usually derived because of people thinking that it provides that euphoric high they want. Also, because of the time-release element, they don’t have to keep taking the drug to get the pain relief benefits. As a result, it is often used for cancer patients, and others who have chronic conditions.

    The Abuse of OxyContin

Unfortunately, even though the drug offers a number of benefits, there are some who begin to abuse it, mainly because their body has become dependent on the effects it provides. Because it is a controlled release substance, the pain-relieving benefits last and last.

The euphoric state the substance provides is one that makes many people not only crave it, but also become addicted to it. After a long period of time of taking the drug, the body will become dependent on it, making it even more difficult to come off of.

To answer the question of how does it feel to be on OxyContin, the answer is complicated. While it provides a feeling of euphoria and eliminates pain, it can also result in serious addictions.
