Addiction Recovery Programs in Toronto: Therapy, Wellness, and Whole-Person Care

Luxurious, Comprehensive, Private Treatment

At Addiction Rehab Toronto, recovery is more than detox and willpower — it is the deliberate, daily practice of new tools, new habits, and a new relationship with yourself. Our recovery programs blend evidence-based psychotherapy, psychiatric care, and holistic wellness so that every dimension of healing — cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social — is supported from your first day in treatment through long-term aftercare.
This page details the therapeutic modalities, wellness modules, and supportive services that make up the daily structure of our residential program in Etobicoke, Ontario. For substance-specific care plans, see our Treatments page. For medically supervised withdrawal, see our Detox page.
Each client receives a personalized weekly schedule built from the modalities below. A typical day combines morning movement (yoga, fitness, or mindfulness), individual or group psychotherapy, psychoeducation, a holistic or creative module (art, music, horticultural, or meditation), and an evening reflection or peer-support session. This structured rhythm rebuilds routine, reduces relapse risk, and accelerates the neurological changes that long-term recovery depends on.
7 AM yoga → 9 AM individual therapy → 11 AM group → 2 PM art therapy → 4 PM fitness → 7 PM reflection
These are the core, clinically supported therapies that form the backbone of every treatment plan.
CBT is a structured, short-term talk therapy that helps clients identify the automatic thoughts and beliefs driving substance use, then practise replacing them with healthier thinking patterns. CBT has the strongest evidence base of any psychotherapy for addiction.
DBT teaches four core skill sets — mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness — and is especially powerful for clients with intense emotions, trauma histories, or co-occurring borderline personality features.
SMART Recovery (Self-Management And Recovery Training) is a science-based, secular alternative to 12-step programs. It builds motivation, helps clients manage urges, and supports balanced lifestyle change through cognitive and behavioural tools.
Motivational Interviewing is a client-centred conversation style that resolves ambivalence about change. Rather than confronting clients, therapists help them articulate their own reasons for recovery — a proven catalyst for commitment in early treatment.
Our solution-focused therapy is future-oriented and emphasizes strengths, while mindfulness therapy uses present-moment awareness — meditation, breathwork, and grounding — to reduce cravings, anxiety, and reactivity.

Our addiction psychiatrists provide medical evaluations, medication management, and integrated care for co-occurring depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and ADHD — stabilizing mental health throughout treatment.

Informative addiction education workshops cover the neuroscience of addiction, the stages of change, and practical recovery tools — empowering clients with knowledge that supports long-term sobriety.

Our relapse prevention program helps clients recognize internal and external warning signs, build coping strategies, and design a personalized plan to maintain recovery after discharge.

Dedicated modules for anger management and grief and loss address two of the most common emotional drivers of substance use — unprocessed anger and unresolved loss.

Our self-love module rebuilds self-esteem and inner worth, while life-skills coaching equips clients with time management, communication, budgeting, and job-readiness skills for independent life after discharge.

Our art therapy program and music therapy give clients non-verbal pathways to explore trauma, identity, and emotion — particularly powerful when words feel out of reach.

Hands-on horticultural therapy and supervised recreational excursions reconnect clients with nature and community. Movement programming includes yoga, Pilates, Muay Thai, and fitness and wellness — each chosen to build physical strength, discipline, and emotional resilience.

Chronic substance use depletes nutrients, dysregulates appetite, and disrupts sleep. Our nutrition program restores physical health with balanced meals, nutrition education, and individualized dietary support.

Guided meditation, Reiki healing, and on-site spa treatments (massage, hydrotherapy, sauna) support nervous system regulation and self-care — both critical to relapse prevention.
WE CAN HELP YOU
Neurogenesis is the creation of new neurons; neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to rewire and adapt. Long-term substance use damages both. Our neurogenesis and neuroplasticity program uses targeted exercises, nutrition, sleep, exercise, and cognitive challenges to actively rebuild brain function during treatment.

Clients who cannot leave home, work, or family responsibilities can access many of the same therapies through our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program. VIOP includes individual therapy, group sessions, addiction education, and lifetime aftercare — all delivered securely online.
Addiction Rehab Toronto recognizes and embraces the fact that all individuals are different. The circumstances surrounding addictions are as unique as those who suffer from them, and we take care to consider each client’s physical, social, psychological, cultural and spiritual needs when putting together our treatment programs.
