Sheri is a Certified Addictions Counsellor who practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) as well as the 12 Step modality. Sheri helps clients process thoughts, feelings and learn new coping strategies to help them build resiliency and overall wellbeing. Sheri uses a trauma informed approach along with strength-based language and processes to help individuals recognize their personal capacity strength and willingness to change. Sheri graduated with honours from McMaster University with the Professional Addiction Studies
Sheri is also a Certified Life Coach and holds a Level II Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from Wilfred Laurier University. Sheri has received training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention from the Crisis Prevention Institute. On a personal note, Sheri grew up in alcoholic home and has personal experience with dysfunctional family systems. Sheri is a trauma and abuse survivor who has volunteered her time as a phone counsellor with the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre as well as facilitating peer support groups at The Gatehouse.
For the last two years Sheri has been one of the keynote speakers in The Gatehouse Transforming Trauma Conference as part of the therapist panel speaking on approaches to addiction and trauma. Sheri has over a decade of continuous sobriety and is actively involved in the recovery community. Sheri attends meetings regularly and has been asked to share her story of recovery at
conferences in Canada and the United States.
